Preparazione efficace all'autogestione del diabete mellito.
To be effective, Therapeutic Patient Education requires knowledge, skills and attitudes of health workers which are not part of their traditional training. Skills such as active listening, confrontation without losers, effective communication, patient empowerment, motivation to change, emotional intelligence, stress management, narrative-autobiographical approach, and others necessary for the treatment of people with chronic diseases including diabetes, were not included in the study programs of physicians, nurses and dieticians until the early 2000s, and only recently have they begun to appear sporadically in some university courses.
In line with the indications of the Diabetes Education Study Group (DESG) of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and those of the Italian Study Group for Diabetes Education (GISED) the ComET carries out numerous residential training events for health professionals involved in the care of people with diabetes.
